Look at the stars, Look how they shine for you

Caleb & Mama at Farrel's for his 2nd Birthday Party!
April, what a month! Caleb's 2nd birthday was April 6th, and my 25th birthday was April 25th. I love birthdays because they are occasions to get people together and celebrate life. I feel weird doing that for my own birthday, but find that I miss people I don't gather and share food with if I don't plan that.
This year on my birthday, Jessie and I went to Universal Studios. It was great to be out, on the road, music playing loudly as we went somewhere new. I miss those days very much. When we lived together, we used to just leave with no destination in mind and end up somewhere different to explore. I love seeing life on the streets. I love farmers markets, city walks, art shows, music events, anything like that.  I have taken Caleb to a few festivals centered around different cultures, but he is not really a fan at all. I think this could be because he is little, and big things like that overwhelm him so he needs time to take it all in. I tend to be the exact same way, but because I am much older, I don't get as overstimulated as easily.

This years birthday was fun, but I missed Caleb and my other people whom I did not see. I was able to see Amanda and my sister on the weekend for lunch, so that was nice. And we had a birthday party at Caleb's grandparents house, which was really fun because Caleb was a riot, of course. He LOVES his grandparents house. It might just be his favorite place to go. He goes to Nana and Pop's house and the next thing we know, he has fingers dipped in chocolate and a train tent with balls to dive into. He runs around the house with his "grassmower" and watches his train or construction videos. All those things he does not do at our house besides the occasional video. I guess it is good for a grandparents house to be like a wonderland for little people.

Wednesday night Jessie and I went to see Coldplay at the Hollywood Bowl. It was awesome. The drive up the 101 was not awesome at all, but once we got there and parked, it was great to walk through the streets of LA again. It was so fun to see all the people come for the show. There were three street musicians we saw as we were walking to the bowl. One guy was singing, another was playing a bucket with drum sticks, and another man was playing the saxophone and keyboard. All but the singing man sounded good. I love the spirit shows bring with people playing music from their cars or having picnics outside. Coldplay was amazing, of course. Their show was one of the best I have ever been to, with vibrant bright colors everywhere. They played 20 songs in total. It was a beautiful night. Jessie talked about moving to Seattle next year. If she does, I will miss her for many reasons. Nights like Wednesday is one of them.

Look at the stars
Look how they shine for you
And everything you do
Yeah they were all yellow
...
Your skin
Oh yeah your skin and bones
Turn into something beautiful
You know you know I love you so
You know I love you so
...
Look at the stars
Look how they shine for you
And all the things that you do

("Yellow" by Coldplay is one of my favorite songs.
Before Caleb was born, I used to sing it to him. I still like thinking of it as his song.)
