Night Out

This Friday was a free night for me. I won't get another one for around two weeks. I decided I wanted to do something you normally would not do with kids around. So with that, my good ol' friend Jessie and I set out to have a night out. Because we hardly go out like this, we didn't even know what to do.

We decided to go to the happy hour at The Elephant Bar. We both got small side dishes there, mine being one that I will never again get (Buffalo Chicken strips-eghh!). We didn't stay long, partially because she threw me under the bus by taking the seat farthest away by the sketchy guy at the bar. At one point he tried talking to me, introduced himself twice, asked if he could touch my skirt, and inquired as to "what my deal" was a few times. I didn't know what that meant. I also didn't understand much of what he was saying. Jessie and I soon left.

After we left, we thought about going home and making pizza, but decided to go to the Auld Dubliner instead. It was fun and exciting to be OUT. I for one, hardly ever do stuff like that. There were lots of people there and fun music on. We got dinner and dessert there, but no drinks. Jessie and I aren't big drinkers.

Once we left the Auld Dubliner after eating, we went up the escalator to the DSW Shoe store to look around, and then went into Lucky Strike to play air hockey. That was fun, even though I suffered a tremendous loss during the second game.

By 9:30pm, we went back to my house. I felt like an old person for wishing I could take a nap at 9:30 at night. Seriously, before I had Caleb, the midnight hour was comparable to the afternoon for me. NOW? I am like an old person with being tired much earlier. I used to stay up late into the night regularly, and able to recover swiftly from the lack of sleep. Not now. I wasn't sure if we would make it for our movie, but we did, and I am glad for it! We saw Monster's Inc. at the dollar theater which is actually now three dollars.

We sought out doing things that people generally do on a Friday night. I don't know if we got it right, because we really had no idea what to do. But we went to three places that were adult locations, and noticed that by and large, people seemed to like to get together for drinks, some bowling, more drinks, and some food. And Jess and I hardly drink. So we didn't really know what to do at these places after eating and hanging out a little. It's probably better to hang out longer with more people. Actually a few weeks ago, I had gone to hang out some old friends I worked with at my first job many years ago. Every Wednesday they meet at a brewery for beer night. It was very fun to meet new people, and see faces I knew before. These people love the craft of beer. It was fun to be around such down to earth, friendly, knowledgeable people.

Friday night, Jessie spent the night because the next day she was going to take me to pick up my car from being serviced. We decided to go kayaking. I took pictures of Jessie, but she only uploaded the below.

Oh gosh, it is worth noting by the way, that for the first time in over a decade, I ate half of a McDonald's cheeseburger. Jessie, being the health conscious wonder she is, decided to eat that for breakfast in the morning on the way to kayaking. I decided to take the plunge and try one. I should just stick to my no McDonald's rule at all times. I'll be honest, it wasn't so bad at first. But half an hour later, I felt suspicious for awhile. It was then she admitted to also feeling weird after eating those burgers anytime she does. She said "probably because of all the chemicals". I am and was, grossed out. What do you guys like to do when you go out? It's fun to dress up and be around adults and go to places not so much aimed for children when you're a parent, or around kids a lot.
Sunset Beach :) We kayaked here! Check out that marine layer.
